Session Details

Teaching Times

The Rev. Jim Dant will guide us in looking at hospitality as a spiritual practice.  With the book of Ruth as our foundation, we will explore hospitality through:

Welcoming Life
a prayerful look at the relentless nature of life...and how to hospitably welcome each moment of our life

Welcoming God
a prayerful search for God ... in places we rarely expect to find God

Welcoming Others
how to credibly and genuinely walk with “any other person” on their faith journey

Welcoming Change
how hospitality shifted all of Jewish history in the oft overlooked story of Ruth ... and how it can shift our histories, as well.

Worship

The Rev. Anita Thompson will lead us in worship through music and spoken word before each teaching session and in Sunday morning worship, which will include the Lord’s Supper.

Activities for Participants

This retreat will include small-group discussion along with opportunities to experience and encourage spiritual growth. Times of silence are provided to allow participants an opportunity to listen for God. Whether silence is a new or old practice, instruction will be given for ways in which to engage the silence with active listening.
