Purpose: CBFNC is committed to being the presence of Christ in all the world, and seeks to embody Christ's compassion and love to those who are most neglected within our global society. When crisis or natural disaster brings loss to a community, we are committed to embody the healing and redeeming presence of Christ through prayerful and faithful service to these broken communities.
Initial Response Team:
The Initial Response Team (IRT) is comprised of three volunteer members, all of whom are members of CBFNC partner churches or who, as individuals, are supportive of CBFNC's mission and core values. This team represents CBFNC's first-response in the event of a crisis, and will quickly assembly at the disaster location.
Areas of Specialized Care:
Some areas of specialized care are of particular interest, including:

healthcare and mental health professionals

qualified and credentialed chaplains and pastoral counselors

educators, librarians, and other school professionals

CBFNC prayer ministries that mobilize the intentional and focuses prayer efforts within local congregations

A comprehensive database of resources available through our churches, including tools, disaster relief trailers, shower trailers, and specialized equipment

Financial contributions designated for CBF Global Mission disaster relief

A disaster relief shower trailer for use primarily in CBFNC disaster relief locations

"LightShine" - in times of catastrophic loss, one thing that is often overlooked in the initial response is the basic need for light. We need to gather portable battery-powered flashlights and lanterns for families and individuals who will not have power restored. Alongside this, generators will be gathered to loan to the most neglected in communities, those persons and families for whom loss of power is more than a temporary inconvenience, such as senior adults and persons with special health needs who do not have ready access to power but desperately need it for survival.
