Webinar: Clergy Spouse Well-Being

Thursday, February 14, 2019

Presenter: Scottie Stamper

DescriptionBeing married to a person in the profession of ministry is complicated. The expectations of clergy by congregations, community members, and the institution of the church, both locally and denominationally are high. The family is impacted by financial strain, lack of privacy, the clergy person being available 24 hours daily, and the clergy person’s service to others. The work of clergy impacts the whole family, for better or worse. During our time together, we will explore dimensions of well-being, but will also consider issues such as isolation, resentment, expectations (of self and others), and boundary-setting. This webinar, designed for spouses of clergy, but is certainly open to clergy members too.

Presented by Scottie Stamper. She is an ordained minister, board-certified chaplain, educator, coach, and is the most enthusiastic spectator at almost any Broadway show. She completed her doctorate in Educational Leadership from UNC-C in 2016. Her dissertation topic was Clergy Spouse Well-Being. Scottie is the Director of Education & Organizational Development for Iredell Health System in Statesville, NC.
