Webinar: Archaeology and the Bible - Friend or Foe?

Tuesday, April 30, 2019

Presenter: Tony Cartledge

Description“Biblical archaeology” emerged in the 20th century as an effort to prove that biblical places, people, and stories were true. Archaeologists in Israel are now more concerned with understanding the cultures of ancient peoples. Does archaeology confirm the biblical narratives, or does evidence in the ground suggest that they don't match up?

Dr. Tony Cartledge has taught Old Testament, writing, preaching, archaeology, and ministry courses at Campbell University Divinity School since 2007. He has published hundreds of articles, along with a dozen books as sole author and three other books as co-author. In addition to his teaching responsibilities at Campbell, Dr. Cartledge is Contributing Editor and weekly curriculum writer for the national publication Nurturing Faith Journal and Bible Studies. Dr. Cartledge and his wife Susan live in Cary.
