CBFNC Calls Andy Jung
as Associate Executive Coordinator

To best serve the vision, mission and ministry of Cooperative Baptist Fellowship of North Carolina, the organization’s Coordinating Council has named Andy Jung as Associate Executive Coordinator. In the newly created position, Jung will work closely with CBFNC Executive Coordinator Larry Hovis, councils, ministry teams, committees, staff and partners to supervise ministry functions, ensure fulfillment of CBFNC’s vision and strategic plan, and provide day-to-day coordination of programs and ministries.

According to Doug Murray, Moderator, Jung’s presence will allow the Executive Coordinator to focus on the organization’s ministry priorities. “Larry’s focus, time, and gifts are best used engaging our partner churches and individuals as well as overseeing the direction of the ministry and mission of CBFNC. Having Andy assist in the oversight of program management and strategic initiatives will ensure that day-to-day operations remain effective while freeing Larry to provide direction for our Fellowship and connect in a more personal way with our ministry partners.”

Murray added, “We are delighted to welcome Andy to the CBFNC administrative team. Andy has been involved with CBFNC in every level of leadership and we know him well. He is a trusted partner in CBFNC life and is also engaged on the larger landscape of faith organizations such as the Fuller Youth Institute.”

Jung earned his Doctor of Ministry from Fuller Theological Seminary and holds degrees from Campbell Divinity School and North Carolina State University. He is Pastor of First Baptist, Albemarle, and prior to that he was Associate Pastor of Students and Administration at Trinity Baptist, Raleigh. Murray noted Jung’s excellent administrative and supervisory skills as well as his solid training and record of excellence in local church ministry as attributes that will assist him in his new role.

Jeff Roberts, pastor of Trinity Baptist, Raleigh, with whom Jung worked for twelve years, applauded the decision. He reported,
"I am thrilled to learn of the hiring of Dr. Andy Jung as the new Associate Executive Director of CBFNC. Andy is uniquely gifted to lead us in this position. His experience as an Administrator, Educator and Pastor has provided him opportunities to develop the skills essential to this new role. In addition, his love for the local church and his commitment to helping our churches reach a new generation will be a great asset to CBFNC."

In September, CBFNC was awarded a $1 million “Thriving in Ministry” grant from the Lilly Foundation. The grant will help launch the organization’s “Helping Pastors Thrive” initiative, which will provide support to practicing pastors navigating quickly changing and challenging times in all stages of their careers. Jung will provide initial support for the initiative until leadership determines future staffing for the program.

CBFNC Executive Coordinator, Larry Hovis, says, "I am excited for Andy to join our staff team. His broad experience in local churches and CBFNC leadership, coupled with his unique gift set of administrative and pastoral abilities, make him uniquely qualified to strengthen the mission and ministries of CBFNC and support partner churches at this critical time in our history."

Jung will assume his duties in mid-January, 2019. He is married to the former Amy Doster, a high school math teacher.
